Black and White, and Red all over!

11 Feb

Valentine’s Day is almost here! I’ve got another Valentine to share with you (only a few days left to get them in)! In my not-so-humble opinion, this is a great card for a guy! In fact, I’m sending it to my 23-year-old son!

A CASEed card!

This card is definitely a CASE…Copy and Share Everything…card! I discovered this card, by Rochelle, on Stampin’ Addicts. Here’s the link to Rochelle’s blog to see her original card: http://istampicreateihavefun.blogspot.com/2011/02/simply-sophisticated-valentine-scic38.html. Thanks so much for sharing, Rochelle!

How to make this card:

  1. Cut Whisper White card stock at 11″ x 4-1/4″. Fold in half so that fold is at the top of card.
  2. Cut Basic Black card stock to 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.
  3. Cut Whisper White card stock at 4-1/4″ x 4″. Run through the Big Shot, using the small dot side of the double-sided Texturz Plate. Rochelle used the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder but mine is MIA, so I opted to use the very subtle effect offered by the Backgrounds Texturz Plates.
  4. The focal point is created with a variety of elements:
    1. Start with a block of Basic Black card stock cut to 3″ x 1-1/2″.
    2. Overlay the Basic Black with a Whisper White circle, punched with the 2-1/2″ Extra Large Circle Punch.
    3. Overlay the Whisper White circle with a square of Basic Black, punched with the 1-3/8″ Extra Large Square Punch.
    4. Overlay the Basic Black square with a square of the First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper (Okay, it’s really Basic Black and Very Vanilla but it works just fine with the Whisper White!). This square was punched with the 1-1/4″ Large Square Punch.
    5. Overlay the DSP square with a Real Red heart, punched with Extra-Large Full Heart Punch.
    6. Overlay the Real Red heart with a tiny Red Glimmer Paper heart, punched with the smallest heart in the Heart-to-Heart Extra Large Punch. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this paper! But only had a little bit of it so I just added a little pop with a little heart, instead of doing the full heart, as Rochelle did! Lots of punches, huh? I absolutely love punches!!
    7. Finally, the happy valentine’s day sentiment, from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, is stamped in Real Red Classic Ink on a strip of Whisper White, cut to 1/2″ x 2″. Just snip the ends after stamping.
    8. Every layer of the card is “Snailed” to the other, except for the sentiment, which I popped up with one (1) Stampin’ Dimensional, cut in half, and at each end.
    9. As you may have figured out, if you’ve looked at any of my other cards, I like to leave the inside of a card blank, with lots of room for a personal message.
    10. What to write inside this one? For my son, I’m listing some of the things I love about him! With 11 inches inside, I’ve got plenty of room for my VERY LONG LIST!

If you haven’t made your Valentines yet, get busy! There’s still time! I’ve shared some easy-to-make cards with you…and I’ll have another one for you tomorrow! You can still get them in the mail tomorrow, with delivery on the big day! Better yet, if you’re able, hand-deliver your hand-made card!

Until we meet again…HAPPY STAMPIN!
