Colors to Love

25 Jul

Are you feelin’ the love? I am. I’ve fallen in love with the new 2012-14 In Colors…Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, and Midnight Muse. They’re all used on this fun card. Okay, I’ll admit it. I didn’t feel that love-at-first-sight flush. You know what I mean. I didn’t ooh! and ahh! when I saw them. You know what we all thought when we first saw Summer Starfruit. But, I’m feelin’ the love now! How about you? This bright and colorful card was the project created at a recent Mom and Me workshop. I used a birthday sentiment from the Word Play set but by just changing the sentiment, this card — simple enough for kids — could be used for just about any occasion!

Stampin’ Up! knows that we’d all love to have the new In Colors, and they know we all love a deal, soooooo they’ve offered us a Card Stock & Pad Kit (#126835) for just $29.95. The kit has 20 sheets of 8-1/2″ x 11″ card stock, 4 each in the 5 in Colors, and 5 Classic Stampin’ Pads, 1 each in the 5 In Colors. Add on the Stampin’ Write Markers (#126856) at just $14.95 for the set of 5 In-Colors and those cute little In Color Dahlias (#127556) — 20 flowers, 4 each of the 5 In Colors — and you’ve got the makings of some bright and colorful cards that everybody will love!

A Precious Baby Card

24 Jan

This morning, before dawn, I boarded a bus bound for Washington, D.C. and the 38th Annual March for Life. Today I’ll march with thousands of others to the United States Supreme Court to make MY voice FOR LIFE heard. I’ve chosen to share a unique card that I believe is particularly appropriate for the occasion.

A precious baby card:This is a Leadership swap shared by “Group Therapy” teammate, Becky Evans.

There are few moments more precious than those when we welcome a new life into this world. So, enjoy this card, and take just a moment today to reflect on how unique and precious each life is!

Martin Luther King, Jr: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

This quote from Dr. King inspired the card I’m sharing with you today. I hope you like it!

I started with the idea of the globe, thus the Pacific Point and Pear Pizzazz cardstock. I topped the Pear Pizzazz with Whisper White, and used a wedge cut from my Stampin’ Sponge to add a touch of  Pacific Point Classic Ink around the edges.

Now for the fun part! I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets — All in the Family — and got busy. My skin tones were created by using my Aqua Painter with More Mustard, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, and Blush Blossom Classic Inks. I  pulled out a colorful selection of Stampin’ Write Markers to fashion my children’s outfits and hair color. My Paper Snips got quite a workout today! Reminded me of cutting out paper dolls with my daughter eons ago!

The sentiment — which I LOVE — is from the Just Believe stamp set. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers again to ink it up in Pear Pizzazz and Pacific Point on Whisper White cardstock. I punched it out with the Extra Large Decorative Label Punch, sponged the edges with Pacific Point and layered it over Pacific Point, punched with the Extra Large Round Tab Punch. I mounted the sentiment right smack-dab in the center of the card.

The focal point — the children of the world — are mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals, with their hands linked! The finishing touch is a simple bow of Pear Pizzazz 1/2″ Stitched-Poly Ribbon, mounted with a Mini Glue Dot.

I just couldn’t leave the inside of the card blank, so I created two more little children using the All in the Family stamp set on Whisper White, punched them out with the Wide Oval Punch, sponged the edges with Pacific Point, and mounted them at the bottom right hand corner on Whisper White!

This card took a little while to make but I think you’ll agree…it was worth it!
