Rejoicing with You

Card 9 of 10

Check back tomorrow for my last homemade Christmas card this year!

I’m sorry for the quality of this photo. I had planned to take a photo of one of my cards today when the sun was shining but slept the afternoon away. Unfortunately, I was slammed by the flu yesterday. Mr. Stamp for Sanity says “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink,” meaning, he reminded me to get my flu shot but I just never got around to it! Today my doctor called in a prescription for Tamiflu so I’m hoping I’ll feel better by Christmas!

The tree is up. Lights. Still no ornaments. Shopping still to be done. No presents wrapped. Not one.

We’ve decided — by necessity — to simplify our decorations this year. No Santas. No snowmen. No wreaths or garlands.

We’re keeping the focus on the reason for the season…Christ’s birth…and just setting up our two Nativities.

Nothing else is important.

Wishing you a Mary Christmas, too!

Check back tomorrow for another handmade Christmas card.

If you’ve already made and/or sent your Christmas cards this year, think about sending one of these beautiful cards as a thank you or a thinking of you card. Didn’t get to your cards yet? You know, Christmastime begins on Christmas! We have twelve whole days to celebrate the season! So, it’s not too late to send cards to the special people in your life! Relax. Enjoy the season. After the hustle and bustle, sit down and spend some quiet creative time making cards, and writing handwritten messages. They will touch those who receive them, in ways you can’t anticipate!

Rejoicing with You

I’m avoiding my typical hustle and bustle of this time of year. My house isn’t decorated, although my husband is putting the lights on the tree as I type this, so ornaments may follow! Gifts are purchased but not wrapped. Oh well, the tree isn’t ready to receive them yet anyway! My house isn’t cleaned — and it really, really needs it…REALLY — and I had planned to do it tomorrow but a friend called and wants to meet for lunch tomorrow. I decided that time with my dear friend is more important than a clean house so the house can wait. I haven’t made a single cookie but I’m doing Weight Watchers so how many cookies do we need anyway? I’ve decided to stop by Father’s Table Bakery & Cafe to pick up a tray of goodies instead of driving myself crazy cranking out dozens of cookies to foil my weight loss endeavor.

I told Mr. Stamp for Sanity this morning that if we don’t get the ornaments on the tree, we can enjoy the simple beauty of a tree with just white lights. And I told him that if I don’t get the presents wrapped, I can just hand them to the recipients with a smile and lots of love. And that if I don’t get the house cleaned, it’s okay, it’s just not that important. The focus is on the message in the card above!

During this Advent season, I’m trying to stay calm and keep my focus on what is important. Christmas comes, ready or not! Christ was born in a stable, surrounded by animals and animal poop! If it was good enough for God, it’s good enough for me and anyone else who enters under my roof. So, cleaning may or may not happen. Time with friends, time with family, time with God have taken the place of the usual hustle and bustle. All is calm.

All are welcome; drop by for some Father’s Table cookies, enjoy the white lights on our tree, relax on our dog-hair covered furniture…and know that you are loved!

First Christmas
This Christmas may you know Him more fully through the love and grace He so richly bestows.

This is the Christmas card I just received from my good friend, Ruth Murphy, the one who introduced me to the joy of stamping! Isn’t it a beautiful, gentle reminder to keep Christ in Christmas?

Peace on Earth

Let there be peace on earth!

I think this is an appropriate card to share after the tragedy in Connecticut yesterday.

Take a moment to be still; know that God is here.
