A Lattice Cross

5 Apr

"...not as I will, but as you will."

Card Supplies:

  • Stamps: None
  • Paper: Naturals White; Whisper White
  • Inks:  None
  • Accessories:  Big Shot; Square Lattice Embossing Folder ; Lattice Bigz Die; Stampin’ Dimensionals; SNAIL; Paper Snips; Large Pearl Basic Jewels

To create this card:

  1. Cut 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of Naturals White card stock (#102316, $ 7.50) in half, creating a sheet that is 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2′.
  2. Fold half sheet in half, using Bone Folder (#102300, $$6.95), creating a card front that is 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. If you prefer, score first using the Simply Scored tool (#122334, $29.95).
  3. Cut additional Naturals White card stock to 5-1/4″ x 4″.
  4. Adhere Stampin’ Dimensionals to each corner and the middle of the 5-1/4″ x 4″ sheet of Naturals White card stock; adhere to card front.
  5. Cut Whisper White card stock (#100730, $8.50) to 5″ x 3-3/4″.
  6. Run through Big Shot (#113439, $99.95), using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#119976, $7.95).
  7. Use SNAIL (#104332, $6.95) to adhere to top layer of Naturals White card stock.
  8. Cut an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of Whisper White card stock in quarters. Take one-quarter sheet and run through the Big Shot, using the Lattice Bigz Die (#115958, $21.95).
  9. Once you’ve got the lattice cut out, look for the cross in the middle of the lattice. See pink highlighted cross in photo below.
  10. Use Paper Snips (#103579, $9.95) — the BEST little scissors in the world, by the way — to cut out your cross. I chose to make mine only 3 sections long but you can make yours 4, if you want.
  11. Dot Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive (#110755, $3.95) — my new favorite adhesive — to the back of the cross and adhere to Whisper White lattice-embossed layer.
  12. Finally, embellish the cross with a single large pearl (#125577, $4.95, Occasions Mini).

Until we meet again…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

And a blessed Easter!

Some things have to be believed…

  • Paper: Naturals White; Lucky Limeade
  • Inks: Calypso Coral; Island Indigo;  Old Olive

Fun Flowers

26 Mar

I just had to share what I made for the Bedford Area Master Gardeners’ — www.bedfordareamastergardeners.org — spring seminars, held this past Saturday. All of the committee members wore them on their nametags so they’d stand out from the crowd…it worked! The committee loved them…and so did everybody else!

They’re made with fun foam. Can you believe it? I love that I can cut fun foam, wood, fabric, vinyl, cork, and more with my Big Shot dies. Talk about getting your money’s worth. And it was so daggone quick and easy to make these pretty little things!

I just ran sheets of fun foam through the Big Shot, one at a time, of course, using the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die. I used a couple of different shades of pink and yellow, as well as purple and orange, fun foam. Then I mixed and matched the colors to create the flowers you see. Each layer is popped up with several Stampin’ Dimensionals but the fun foam is adhesive-backed so you could peel off the backing and stick them together, if you wanted. I added a Brights Button (available FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration), laced with Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine (available in the Occasions Mini Catalog until 4/30/12), to each flower, and attached it with a Glue Dot.

These could be made into pins or magnets or package toppers or hair bows or decorations for a nursery or a little girl’s room!

For my purposes, I used a colored paper clip to attach the flower to the name tag. What do you think? Aren’t these flowers fun?

Happy National Pig Day!

1 Mar
National Pig Day is all about according “the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man’s most intellectual and domesticated animals.” WooHoo! Go, pigs! I LOVE pigs!

If you’ve stamped with me in “The Padded Room” — my home stamping studio — you know I’m a pig collector. Don’t ask me how it started. I don’t know. I think I saw a pig, commented on it, and next thing I know I got it as a gift. One pig begets another…and another…and another! I’ve got pig ornaments, a pig rug, pig yard ornaments, pig mugs, a pig bowl, pig earrings, a pig dog collar, pigs, pigs, and more pigs! But, not just any pig will do. If a pig is going to join my family, it has to speak to me! Meet some of my family members:

The cute little pig stamp, from Stampin’ Up!’s Button Buddies stamp set, spoke to me, too! I just had to have it! Because of my affinity for pigs, I decided to feature this precious little Button Buddy in the card I created for the shoebox swap I participated in at Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership Conference. Here it is:

What do you think? Isn’t this pig just the cutest thing? By the way, the designer paper is Twitterpated, as is the cute little Blushing Bride button, both available from the Occasions Mini Catalog. And that striped embossing folder that I used can be gotten FREE with a $50 purchase…but only until March 31, when Sale-A-Bration ends!

Creativity challenged?

13 Feb

Do you ever find yourself creativity-challenged? Well, I certainly do! So, when I want to create a card, but am clueless as to where to start, I look to others’ creations for inspiration. In the stamping world, we call it CASE-ing — Copy and Share Everything! Above, on the left, you see a swap that I received at the Stampin’ Up! Convention in July (Sorry! There’s no name on it so I can’t give credit. If it’s yours, let me know and I will!). Cute card, huh? Simple, too! But, I didn’t have that ribbon, or the stamps, or the flower punch. Mmmmm. The juices started flowing. I pulled out the new Blossom punch that’s in the Occasions Mini Catalog, as well as some of our FREE Sale-A-Bration DSP, and went to work! How do you like my finished product?  I hope it will inspire you when you’re feeling creativity-challenged! I hope you’ll share your version of my card with me; I would love to see it! Email a photo of it to me at stamp4sanity@gmail.com.

I can’t wait for the next visit from the “Man in Brown!” I’m gonna rip open that box and get my hands on the Fun Flowers Die, a Bigz L Die available in the Occasions Mini Catalog. My plan is to have FUN with the Fun Flowers Die, my Big Shot, and the Springtime Vintage Fabric, and make hair bows and barrettes.

Mark your calendar NOW for Saturday, April 9. Join me at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Roundelay Road, Lynchburg for the Spring Fling Craft and Vendor Show.  I’ll be there from 9-3 with two of my team members. We’ll have a variety of handmade cards and handcrafted items — including those hair bows and barrettes — available for sale. Plan to stop by and see what we have to offer…AND create a birthday card to go!

Why not put your own Big Shot to work? With just a half sheet of 8-1/2″ x 11″ card stock…or Designer Series Paper…or fabric…or a variety of other materials…you can create three of these cute flowers, perfect for embellishing cards, scrapbook pages and more. You might even try your hand at hair bows and barrettes, too!

If you’d like to order the Big Shot or the Fun Flowers Die or any other Stampin’ Up! product, please call or email me; I’ll be happy to help you. If you prefer, you can place your order online by clicking SHOP NOW above.

Until we meet again….HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Button, Button — Who’s got the button?

8 Mar

I’ve got a very cute, very simple card for you today. It features the Sew Suite Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

card front

To create this card I simply folded a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ sheet of So Saffron card stock in half, so that the fold is on the left side. I topped it with a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Sew Suite Designer Series Paper. Voila! Done!

inside card

Inside the card, I placed three paper buttons, created with the Buttons #5 Sizzlit Die. I used colors — Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Pretty in Pink — that coordinated with the Designer Series Paper on the card front. The sentiment –stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink — is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (one of my favorites).

That’s all there is to it! Another very simple card, without much stamping. Hope you like it!

Until we meet again…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
